Peter Do is a new creative director that Helmut Lang has hired.
As on May 15, men’s and women’s collections for Helmut Lang will be under the direction of New York-based designer Peter Do. Later this year, he will unveil his spring 2024 collection at New York Fashion Week.

Do has rapidly become a rising star in the business since starting his own brand in 2018, becoming recognized for precise tailoring and a contemporary spin on workwear. His 2014 graduating collection from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York has earned the LVMH award for emerging fashion designers. He was soon employed by Celine, working with Phoebe Philo, and also did design work for Derek Lam.Highlights from the Spring-Summer 2023 presentations at New York Fashion Week
Do’s new position will help the struggling Helmut Lang brand, which has seen a steady stream of designers since its eponymous creator departed the company in 2005, gain respect. Fast Retailing, the company that owns Uniqlo, acquired the brand in 2009 as part of its acquisition of Theory. It changed the way it did business in 2018, effectively halving sales in North America.

Do will continue to lead his own label while remaining in New York.

According to Helmut Lang’s chief executive Dinesh Tandon, “(Do’s) clear and innovative approach to design very much aligns with the brand’s ethos and heritage.”Dinesh Tandon, the chief executive of Helmut Lang, made a remark. He is a perfect fit for this position due to his expertise working with high-end fashion firms and his well-known namesake label.

“Even if everything else felt unsure last year, one thing stayed constant while I considered the next step in my career. Do stated in a statement published on Instagram that she felt the need to “continue doing my part in aiding the city I love most regain its stature as the centre of gravity for everyone who cares about radical thinking in fashion.” Helmut Lang best captured this spirit, in my opinion.
