Mike Shannon
Former player and adored broadcaster Mike Shannon has been a part of the St. Louis Cardinals organization for a very long time. He had a stroke on April 29 and passed away in Marion, Illinois. The 83-year-old Shannon played for the Cardinals from 1962 through 1970. He switched to the team’s radio booth after renal illness ended his career, where he became a regular for 50 years as a broadcaster. In 2021, he left the role.
Mike Baxes
middle infielder Mike Baxes played with the Athletics in the 1950s. On April 13, he passed away at the age of 92. In 1956 and 1958, Baxes was a member of the Kansas City Athletics. Jim Baxes, his older brother (1928–1996), played in the major leagues with Cleveland and Los Angeles in 1959.
Dave Frost
With 16 victories, Dave Frost co-led the 1979 Angels in victories. On April 17, the Angels confirmed his passing at the age of 70. According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, he passed away last month as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. In 1977, Frost played for the Chicago White Sox, in 1978–81 with the California Angels, and in 1982 for the Kansas City Royals.
Fred Klages
Famous Pennsylvania athlete Fred Klages spent a portion of two seasons pitching for the White Sox. According to remarks made by his family and friends on social media, he passed away on March 30 at the age of 79. In 1966 and 1967, Klages was a member of the Chicago White Sox.
